Metabolism and the way it works always seems to be a topic of interest amongst clients and gym goers.
People are always interested to know ways in which it can be increased, whether theirs is particularly slow, understand what it means, and understand the relevance to weight control long term.
Metabolism, by definition refers to how many calories your body requires to function on a daily basis.
Some of us are metabolically blessed and seem to be able to be able to eat whatever they want when they want, while the majority of us face a rather uphill battle metabolically once we reach the age of 30.
If you factor metabolism into the weight loss equation, it means that we have to be on the lookout for ways to improve the body’s ability to burn its food rather than constantly looking for ways to cut back on our caloric intake.
The best thing we can do to improve metabolism is to alter things – the types and amounts of food we eat, the time we eat it, the type of training we do, at what time and how often.
So if you have lost weight and are now looking to take it to the next level, or have noticed that it seems to be getting harder to control your weight, perhaps it is time to:
1.Eat a bigger breakfast and skip your snacks
2.Train after dinner or pre breakfast
3.Do more weights and less cardio
4.Do less cardio but make sure it is better quality
5.½ your meals but eat smaller volumes every 2-3 hours
